Asda Kwik Cricket Boys Tournament 2011

The weather forecast for the Boys Tournament was more promising, with a
chance of rain later that day. That proved accurate but we had completion ofthe finals before it happened.

Another exciting day in prospect as we set into motion the first series of
matches. Unfortunately the team from Scotland did not arrive meaning one
league only had 3 teams and restricted games.

The league competitions was as always very competitive with some very
close results. At the end of the series matches the league winners were,
Blackpool Primary School, Stanwix, Stivichall and Isham Ceva.

The semi-finalists were Churchfields v Stivichall, Isham Ceva v Blackpool.
Churchfields fought the good fight with Stivichall coming out the winners
and through to the Final.

Churchfields 236 – 5, Stivichall 218 – 3.

The second semi-final was a very close run thing with Blackpool realising at
the beginning of the last over with the scores level that they had 3 wickets in
hand. They calmly batted out winning on the wickets lost count back.

Blackpool C.E. Primary through to the Final.
Isham Ceva 221 – 7
Blackpool 221 – 4

The final was a hard fought and close match with two evenly matched teams,
Churchfields finally triumphed.
Churchfields 231 -6, Blackpool 228 – 4.

Prizes and medals were presented by Vickram Solanki and Matthew Hoggard. It was great to see them as guests.
Thanks to all of our hard working helpers and Derbyshire CCC who always do a superb job.
